Calcutta India - 2015
Located on the banks of the Hooghly River (Ganga), the huge colourful early morning Mullick Ghat flower market is a hive of activity. Many of the flower sellers spend up-to 12 hours a day in their tiny workshops, threading hundreds of beautiful fresh scented flowers into garlands for local Indian weddings. The Artisan district Kumartuli is where highly skilled craftsmen make straw and clay god and goddess idols which are then brightly hand-painted for Indian festivals.
